Baku and The Fire Peninsula

Overview

  • Duration:4 days 3 nights
  • Tour Type:Azerbaijan
This program goes deeper into Baku and its extraordinary surroundings than a standard city tour allows. The Absheron Peninsula that cradles the capital is unlike anywhere else in the world — a flat, wind-swept landscape where natural gas has burned from the earth since antiquity, where Zoroastrian pilgrims built fire temples and where the Nobel family once shaped the global oil industry. Combined with the full cultural depth of the capital, this four-day program offers a complete Baku experience.

Day 1 — Arrival in Baku Arrival and private transfer to the hotel. Welcome dinner at a traditional Azerbaijani restaurant with live folk music.

Day 2 — Baku: Old and Modern The day opens at Highland Park for panoramic views over the Bay of Baku and the Caspian Sea. The UNESCO-listed Old City follows — the Maiden Tower, Shirvanshah's Palace and the medieval caravanserai — before lunch at a traditional restaurant within the fortress walls. The afternoon strolls along Nizami Street, the elegant pedestrian avenue lined with 19th-century European-style buildings, then visits the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, whose collection of handwoven masterpieces traces centuries of regional craft tradition, and the Heydar Aliyev Center designed by Zaha Hadid.

Day 3 — The Absheron Peninsula A full day on the Absheron Peninsula, the flat spit of land that stretches into the Caspian and gave Azerbaijan its name as the Land of Fire. The Ateshgah Fire Temple, where flames rose naturally from the earth for centuries and drew Zoroastrian pilgrims from across the region. Yanardag, the burning mountain where natural gas still ignites permanently from the hillside. In the afternoon, visit the Nobel Museum, the elegant former villa of the family whose oil fortune was built here on the Caspian coast, where a premium caviar tasting session is paired with locally produced sparkling wine. The Green Bazaar closes the sightseeing before a dinner at one of the traditional restaurants in Baku with Mugham music.

Day 4 — Departure Breakfast and transfer to Heydar Aliyev International Airport for onward flights.

Every Journey is a Starting Point

Every itinerary we present is a carefully considered starting point, not a fixed itinerary. Our programs have been designed with years of on-the-ground experience, but no two groups are alike and no two journeys need to be either.

Every program in our portfolio can be adapted to suit the specific needs, interests and pace of your clients. Dates, duration, accommodation level, additional experiences, all of it can be shaped around what your clients are looking for. Our team is here to make it work, from the first conversation to the final detail.
