Georgia reveals itself in layers. The first visit shows you the landmarks and the landscapes. But the country has much more to offer those who stay longer and look further. This ten-day program is built for travelers who want Georgia in its full complexity — the well-known and the lesser-visited, the grand monasteries and the quiet family encounters, the mountain drama and the wine country intimacy.
The route moves through every significant region: Tbilisi and its cultural depth, Kakheti and its ancient vineyards, the sacred sites of Mtskheta and Kartli, the cave town of Uplistsikhe, the medieval walled village of Vardzia, the spa town of Borjomi and the mountain communities of Kazbegi. It is a journey that builds steadily and leaves travelers with a genuine and lasting understanding of one of the most remarkable countries in the world.
Day 1 — Arrival in Tbilisi Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Welcome dinner at a traditional Georgian restaurant with live folk music.
Day 2 — Old Tbilisi A full day in the Georgian capital. The cobbled lanes and carved wooden balconies of the Old Town, the 6th-century Anchiskhati Basilica, Metekhi church above the Kura river and a cable car ascent to Narikala fortress. The National Museum of Georgia and its extraordinary Archaeological Treasury of Colchis gold concludes the sightseeing, followed by an evening stroll along Rustaveli Avenue.
Day 3 — Kakheti: Sighnaghi and the Vineyards Bodbe Monastery and the resting place of Saint Nino. Sighnaghi, the most romantic town in Georgia, its walls enclosing cobbled streets with views across the Alazani Valley. Lunch and wine tasting at a family winery with bread baking, churchkhela and mtsvadi workshops. Overnight in Telavi.
Day 4 - Kakheti: Alaverdi & Nerkersi Alaverdi Monastery, one of the tallest medieval cathedrals in Georgia, surrounded by ancient vineyards. A family winery visit in the afternoon for a qvevri amber wine tasting and a traditional supra feast. Nekresi Monastery on its forested hillside. Return to Tbilisi.
Day 5 — Mtskheta and Mt Kazbek Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in ancient Mtskheta. The Stalin Museum in Gori. Uplistsikhe, the ancient rock-hewn town carved into the cliff above the Mtkvari River. North along the Georgian Military Highway. The Jvari Pass at 2,395 meters and the descent into the Kazbegi valley. Arrival in the mountain town with Mount Kazbek filling the horizon.
Day 6 — A Day in Kazbegi A 4WD ascent to Gergeti Holy Trinity Church at 2,170 meters. Lunch with a local family. Felt-making masterclass at a local studio. Optional walk to Gveleti waterfall through the gorge in the afternoon.
Day 7 — Gori and Uplistsikhe Travel to the town of Gori via Ananuri Fortress above the Jinvali reservoir. Visit the former Soviet leader Joseph Stalin's museum. Explore Uplistsikhe, the ancient rock-hewn town carved into the cliff above the Mtkvari River. Overnight in Borjomi.
Day 8 — Vardzia Cave Monastery A visit to Vardzia, the extraordinary cave monastery complex founded in the 12th century by King Giorgi III and Queen Tamar. Carved into the volcanic cliffs of the Mtkvari gorge, the complex once housed thousands of monks across hundreds of chambers, chapels and corridors cut directly from the rock. Return to Borjomi to enjoy a walk in the parks of the town.
Day 9 — Afternoon in Tbilisi Take the iconic Tbilisi Funicular to Mtatsminda Park for panoramic views over the city and explore the Sololaki area. In the afternoon, optional visit to the sulphur baths of Abanotubani for a traditional Georgian bathing experience with scrub massage.
Day 10 — Departure Transfer to the airport.
