Georgia Uncovered

Overview

  • Tour Type:Georgia
Georgia is one of those rare countries that rewards travelers on every level. Its capital Tbilisi is one of the most atmospheric and walkable cities in the region, layered with centuries of history and alive with a creative energy that feels entirely its own. Beyond the city, the country opens into forested mountain valleys, sun-drenched wine plains and sacred sites that have drawn pilgrims and travelers for more than a thousand years.

This seven-day journey covers Georgia in its full sweep. From the cobbled lanes of Old Tbilisi to the glacier-capped peaks above Kazbegi, from the ancient spiritual capital of Mtskheta to the vine-covered hills of Kakheti, it connects the country's greatest landmarks with its most authentic local experiences into one seamless and deeply satisfying journey.

Day 1 — Arrival in Tbilisi Arrival in Tbilisi and transfer to the hotel. A welcome dinner at a traditional Georgian restaurant sets the tone for the week ahead.

Day 2 — Tbilisi: Old Town and Beyond A full day in the Georgian capital. The cobbled lanes and carved wooden balconies of the Old Town, the 6th-century Anchiskhati Basilica, Metekhi church above the Kura river and a cable car ascent to Narikala fortress. The National Museum of Georgia and its extraordinary Archaeological Treasury of Colchis gold concludes the sightseeing, followed by an evening stroll along Rustaveli Avenue.

Day 3 — Kakheti: Wine Country East to Kakheti, Georgia's great winemaking region. Bodbe Monastery, the resting place of Saint Nino who brought Christianity to Georgia, and the romantic walled town of Sighnaghi above the Alazani Valley. Lunch and wine tasting at a local family winery, with Georgian bread baking, churchkhela making and a supra feast that reflects the full generosity of Kakhetian hospitality.

Day 4 — Mtskheta and the Road to Kazbegi Morning in Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia. The UNESCO sites of Jvari Monastery above the river confluence and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the spiritual heart of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The route then follows the Georgian Military Highway north, stopping at the medieval Ananuri Fortress above the Jinvali reservoir before climbing into the Caucasus to Kazbegi.

Day 5 — In the Shadow of Mount Kazbek A 4WD ascent to Gergeti Holy Trinity Church at 2,170 meters, with Mount Kazbek rising behind it. Lunch with a local family in the valley. An afternoon visit to a felt-making studio introduces one of the region's oldest craft traditions, with herbal tea and homemade jams rounding off the experience.

Day 6 — Gori, Uplistsikhe and Back to Tbilisi The return south stops at Gori, birthplace of Joseph Stalin, for a visit to his museum and personal railway carriage. Every Journey is a Starting Point

Every itinerary we present is a carefully considered starting point, not a fixed itinerary. Our programs have been designed with years of on-the-ground experience, but no two groups are alike and no two journeys need to be either.

Every program in our portfolio can be adapted to suit the specific needs, interests and pace of your clients. Dates, duration, accommodation level, additional experiences, all of it can be shaped around what your clients are looking for. Our team is here to make it work, from the first conversation to the final detail.
