Armenia is one of the world’s oldest civilizations, a place where the world’s earliest known winery was discovered, where one of history’s most distinctive alphabets was created, and where Christianity was adopted as a state religion earlier than anywhere else. Across the country, landscapes, manuscripts, and sacred sites still carry the imprint of thousands of years of continuous history.


This eight-day journey is designed for those traveling with academic or cultural intent. Developed for universities, alumni groups, museums, and cultural institutions, the Armenia Heritage Route combines key site visits with expert-led lectures, private access to collections, and meetings with leading local scholars, archaeologists, and cultural figures. It is not simply a tour of Armenia, but a structured engagement with one of humanity’s most complex and less-explored civilizations.




Day 1 — Arrival & Academic Introduction Arrival in Yerevan, dinner at a carefully selected restaurant and an introductory lecture on Armenian history and civilization, setting the academic framework for the days ahead.

Day 2 — Yerevan: Museums & Ancient Fortresses A full day exploring Yerevan's great repositories of knowledge. A visit the History Museum of Armenia led by an expert historian, and an afternoon visit to Erebuni fortress, founded in 782 BC, with a lecture on Urartu and the origins of Armenian statehood.

Day 3 — Etchmiadzin: The Heart of Armenian Christianity The Etchmiadzin cathedral complex, museum and treasury, followed by the UNESCO-listed ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral. A lecture on the early spread of Christianity in Armenia and its lasting global significance brings the day together.

Day 4 — Khor Virap, Noravank & the Areni Cave South to Khor Virap monastery with its iconic Mt Ararat backdrop, Noravank monastery in the red canyon of Vayots Dzor and the Areni Cave archaeological site, where discoveries of the world's oldest winery and oldest leather shoe have rewritten our understanding of early human civilization.

Day 5 — Yerevan: Ancient Knowledge & Contemporary Minds A private visit to the National Gallery of Armenia, an academic session at Yerevan State University or the National Academy of Sciences, and an afternoon at TUMO Centre for Creative Technologies. The day closes with a group discussion on Armenia's journey from ancient history to 21st-century innovation.

Day 6 — Lake Sevan, Noratus & the Armenian Alphabet A visit to Lake Sevan, one of the world’s largest high-altitude freshwater lakes, followed by Noratus Cemetery, known for its remarkable field of medieval khachkars (cross-stones). The day concludes in Yerevan at the Matenadaran Museum, home to one of the richest collections of ancient manuscripts in the world, offering an insight into Armenian alphabet development and its influence on shaping the Armenian identity. 

Day 7 — Garni, Geghard & the Pagan Roots of Armenia Garni, Armenia's only surviving pagan temple, and the UNESCO cave monastery of Geghard, where the transition from paganism to Christianity is written into the architecture itself. A lecture on this pivotal moment in Armenian cultural identity follows.

Day 8 — Farewell Yerevan A final morning brings the group together to reflect on the journey's themes and discoveries, followed by a farewell lunch before airport transfers.
